Cool Down, Dive In: Top Local Swimming Spots
Wilmington, Jay and Lake Placid in the High Peaks

Beat the heat this summer in the High Peaks! Our area, renowned for its natural beauty, has some of the most pristine and refreshing swimming spots around! Here are a few options for your visit:
For a swimming hole and “lazy river” experience, check out the historic Jay Covered Bridge. Once you cross the historic bridge, there’s a rocky area which is fun to explore and get your feet wet. For swimming and floating, walk from the rocky area towards the playground:

Also check out Lake Everest at Wilmington Town Beach. It's a beautiful setting with a lovely beach, playground, small hiking path, bbq grills and pavilon. There's live music Thursday evenings and the beach is dog friendly at the grassy end.

Mirror Lake Beach in Lake Placid is also fantastic and there are a couple of kayak rental places right on Main Street. It’s dog friendly where the kayaks put-in. There's live music Tuesday evenings at the band shell.

Taylor Pond on Silver Lake Rd is a remote spot with a beach. It’s beautiful and used for swimming (note: no life guards), fishing and paddling. It's about 12-15 miles from Wilmington and Jay.

Cascade Lake, located in Keene, but next to and on the way into Lake Placid from Rte 73, is another stunning area where people swim (note: no life guards), fish and paddle.
