We've stayed at many places in the Adirondacks over the years and this has to be one of the best. We came down for the May 2017 long weekend (Canada) and found the place to be comfortable, clean and exactly as described. The hot tub was clean and in a great state and the view from it is out of this world! The sauna was great and we got a lot of use of the fire pit right off the porch. The porch/outdoor space is amazing and we spent a lot of time outside soaking up the sun at the end of a long hike. The TV/entertainment system was much better than expected and we were able to watch playoffs and make use of the Netfix etc. Beds are comfortable and kitchen is well equipped. The wifi handled all the traffic on it exceptionally well. The location is great (if you don't mind being ~15min from Placid) but is a welcome change as we got to stay in a part of the park that less busy. Proximity to Whiteface is great and a great jumping off point for less travelled peaks (Catamount, Jay, etc). Only a few negatives that might be troublesome to some people (though we found them negligible) was that the front bedroom is next to the common area and is prone to noise from anyone in there. The common area is a bit tight if all 8 people are there, and though they say you can sleep 12 people, i wouldn't recommend it as it eats up all the common space (but they do mention that it is your choice). Overall this place if phenomenal bang for your buck and is worth it for skiiers, hikers, or anyone who just wants to kick back and relax. We will be booking this place again however, i've noticed they own other properties in the area and we might give those places a try.

We absolutely loved this cabin - the views are spectacular. We couldn't enjoy the entire property because of the amazing snow storm, but it's so beautiful and can't wait to come back. We did enjoy the hot tub and sauna, which is perfect after a day of snow shoeing or cross country skiing. The cabin was cozy and comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Bonus - being able to bring our 11 month old puppy was so nice! Thank you for being a pet friendly property.

My husand and I with our Scottish terrier in tow had a great week at Todd's Algonquin retreat. We came all the way from Baltimore and it was well worth it. The view is to die for, the house was so warm considering it was in the negative temps at night. We kept the heat on 65 and used the gas pot belly style stove anytime we were there. My husband said Todd sure did insulate the house well because of how warm it stayed. The hot tub was very refreshing after a long day of skiing. We will be back to stay at one of Todds rentals again. Either Algonquin or Esther.

It exceeded our expectations ! We spent four relaxing days in the property and had not a single complain. Everything was immaculate. It had everything we needed for a splendid vacation time and more. We had the feeling of being isolated in the middle of nowhere, but we really were minutes away from shops and Lake Placid. Unfortunately, we did not use the hot tub and sauna, so we cannot say anything about that. Maybe next time, because if we had the chance, we would certainly like to rent it again. I have already shared the website with some friends.

We were one of the first to stay at this cabin and let me tell you, it was almost TOO nice (if that's a thing). The owners were very helpful through the whole process of booking our stay and right to the end as I asked a ton of newbie questions. The house, the VIEW, the little things that just make the vacation right are all done right here. You can tell they know what it takes to make you feel right at home or even better. We arrived early with plans to just mill about town but one of our kids got sick in the car so we went straight to the house. The caretakers were SUPER nice and very accommodating to our situation and let us have access to the house a little early to clean up the baby. This was our first trip to the Lake Placid area and in a big part because of this house, it won't be our last. Thank again.
